Aussie Optimism
The Aussie Optimism Program is implemented within the context of the School Health Curriculum. The program has three components: Positive Thinking Skills, Social Life Skills and Optimistic Thinking Skills. Aussie Optimism is a program appropriate for all students. It is both a preventive and early intervention based program that focuses on building emotional, cognitive and social skills in order to promote mental health, and prevent anxiety and depression. The program seeks to help students develop the skills necessary to deal effectively with problems and to enable them to approach adolescence and adulthood with resourcefulness and confidence. Within this program students will learn to regulate emotions, think positively and solve social problems. The lessons are carried out weekly and done collaboratively with the social worker in all the classes.
