Literacy & Numeracy

At Armadale ESC, English Stage 1 is designed specifically to meet the unique educational needs of students in an environment that is supportive and nurturing. Working in small groups allows the teacher to work intensively on explicit teaching of aspects of the task such as pre-teaching of the vocabulary, deconstructing a sample text or a joint construction. It provides support for students who may be reluctant to contribute in a larger group. English Stage 1 aims to develop students’ skills in listening, speaking, reading, viewing and writing, capacity to create texts for a range of purposes, audiences and contexts, and understanding and appreciation of different uses of language.

Armadale ESC also offers an innovative and unique approach to teach Mathematics, providing superb opportunities for students with special needs to learn basic Math skills in a less stressful, but challenging and creative environment.
